CWAC NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT Helen Lengfeld, the founder of the California Women’s Amateur Championships felt that the entry fee to the tournaments should not be an obstacle to talented and enthusiastic women golfers and so the fees were kept exceptionally low. Today, and in that same tradition the Committee for the California Women’s Amateur Championships is loathe to raise fees even though the monies collected barely cover the green fees and none of the other tournament expenses. To help us defray some of the additional expenses, all our committee members donate their time and pay all their own expenses, the WGANC annually donates to us a small portion of their dues while another generous gift comes from a foundation in Santa Barbara. These gifts, coupled with a number of smaller ones from our own committee members generate most of our income. The gap between expenses and income is widening and we are making a plea to present and past contestants, professionals and individuals interested in the future of women’s golf to help us stay afloat.
